In-depth Sole F65 Treadmill Review: Testing & Analysis
Workout Experience
The Sole F65 does not require a subscription, but it does connect with the Sole Plus app for even more training options in addition to the 7 onboard training programs. If you use one of the onboard options, training is as simple as selecting the program you want and answering the prompts to dial in your settings. The F65 is a firm treadmill, so it may not be the best match for walkers or runners who want a lot of shock absorption for their recovery and easy training.
Pairing your F65 with the Sole Plus app on your phone or tablet can upgrade your training experience. Sole doesn’t require a subscription, even for this app. You can access hundreds of trainer-led classes with this app. The classes don’t adjust the speed or incline of the treadmill, but the trainer will cue you. The classes are backed by music, but the music isn’t specific to the class. There are a variety of classes available on the Sole+ app.
The Sole F65 offers a wide range of exercise experiences from low-tech to high-tech without a subscription.

Dimensions/Storability
The Sole F65 has dimensions of 82.5″ L x 38″ W x 67″ H. The F65 is very similar in weight to the previous model. It weighs 267 lbs. Even though it’s sizable we don’t anticipate it being very hard to move because of the four transportation wheels. When folded you should be able to just push the F65 where you need it to go. Sole Treadmills are some of the easiest to move despite their heavy weights because of the two extra wheels on the front.
The deck also folds up with an assist. This way, you don’t have to lift the entire weight of the deck yourself, and when you pull the yellow handle, the deck will lower to the floor slowly. Folded, the F65 has dimensions of only 42.5″ L x 38″ W x 72″ H.
Onboard Workouts & Apps
Onboard Workouts
Most treadmills nowadays come with attached touch screens that display subscription workout content. Even with new updates, Sole manages to keep their content included and free of locking you into a membership fee. Considering how tech-enhanced the new Sole F80 and F85 are, the Sole F65 is a great option if you just want access to onboard workouts and an easy-to-use display.
Much like a commercial treadmill, the F65 has fewer frills than others. This is great if you’re looking for a treadmill you can hop on and go and enjoy an unplugged experience. The F65 comes with 6 preset workout modes. These include hill, fat burn, cardio, strength, HIIT, and manual mode. There are also custom modes and 2 heart rate training modes to choose from.
The programs are similar to the F63. They are structured as complete workouts and on the screen, your workout metrics are displayed. Each mode has preset speeds and inclines.
The F65 is also Bluetooth-enabled to connect to the Sole+ App on your device. This way you can keep track of your workouts. You can also play your own music and content through the speakers of the treadmill from your device. So, overall we’re glad to see that the Sole F65 has maintained simplicity while still keeping thoughtful features included with the price.
Console
A big way that Sole retains a straightforward design on the F65 is the 9” LCD display. It isn’t a touch screen, but it should be easy to use with the included adjustment and programming buttons.
The screen is a nice size to navigate and see all of your workout metrics like time, distance, pace, speed, incline, and calories. It is larger than the F63, so we assume it is even easier to see. All of the buttons are flat and well-labeled. They were raised on the previous version which concerned us about how dirty and even sticky they could become over time. These buttons should be easy to wipe clean.
The quick-touch buttons are the same as the previous model. They skip around when it comes to speed and incline increments. This layout isn’t our favorite because of the lack of some of the buttons and the fact that the quick buttons for speed and incline are on top of each other. However, in our experience using other treadmills with these buttons, they certainly help when it comes to adjusting the treadmill quickly.
The fan has hopefully been improved since it is larger than the previous one. Considering the F63’s fan is a little weak, I assume this one will be, too. So, you might need to plug in your own fan to cool off. The F65 has a lot of storage options. The two large cupholders have small side pockets inside of them, but there is a large storage tray under the console for whatever else you need nearby. The device rack is the same as Sole’s other treadmills. It’s adjustable to fit larger tablets and it is great for allowing you to read/stream your own content.

Build Quality
The construction is kind of like a mixture of the Sole F63 and the Sole F80. The F65 is right in the middle with some features mimicking the step-up model, and some resembling the entry-level model. We anticipate the Sole F65 will perform like these other models from Sole.
One indication that this is a well-made treadmill is its weight limit. Sole Treadmills have high weight capacities, and considering the price point of the F65, we love that it has a nice 330 lb limit. Other treadmills priced higher have lower weight capacities, so we like that the F65 handles larger users.
Frame
The frame is made out of steel. It sits under the front part of the deck. On either side is where the steel uprights connect from the frame and extend up to the handles and console. I’ll admit that this design is very similar to the previous model and the new F63. It seems like Sole went for an “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it approach”, which is smart.
The new F65 even kept the steel crossbar under the storage tray in between the uprights. This design is great for budget-friendly lower-end treadmills because it adds a lot of stability to the console. The console should have minimal, if any, shake when running.
Motor
The Sole F65 Treadmill should handle light to moderate running. It has a 3.0 horsepower motor which in our experience is on the smaller side for treadmills we recommend for running. Being that this treadmill is from Sole though, it should still perform well and handle a good amount of use. We also anticipate the motor to be quiet, but it’s impossible to know for sure until we get it in our studio for testing.
The F65 has a great number of training variables. The motor moves the belt up to 12 mph and the deck inclines up to 15%. 15% is usually the highest incline we see on folding treadmills and it is a great amount considering the F65’s price. One thing to keep in mind is that the motor might be a little slow to adjust the speed and incline, which can be frustrating when you’re doing short intervals. It does make it a little safer than quick-adjusting treadmills though because if you accidentally increase the speed or incline to a level you’re not comfortable with, you should have time to slow it down and decline it.
The motor hood is slimmer so you shouldn’t have to worry about hitting it with your feet when you run, too.
Deck
The deck is the largest that we see on folding treadmills. It is 22” wide and 60” long. This length is ideal for most stride lengths so users of all sizes should be able to run on the belt. This width means that the F65 isn’t the most compact treadmill, but you’ll have plenty of room to move around on it. For a more compact option, the F63 is the way to go.
The deck is a little bit different than the F80 and F85 and the Sole F63. For one, it doesn’t have the same covering over the side rails as the F80 and F85, but it appears to have some texture so they shouldn’t feel slippery.
It’s impossible to know exactly how firm or soft the cushioning feels until we have the F65 here, but going off of what other treadmills from Sole are like to run on, I’d say it’s firm. Sole Treadmills have some of the firmest cushioning. This isn’t best if you get discomfort in your joints when running, but it is beneficial if you’re a road runner who likes to run on a similar feeling surface as concrete. Unlike concrete though, the F65 has shock absorption so the give in the deck should help lessen the impact on your joints.
Warranty
Sole includes a generous lifetime frame and motor warranty with the purchase of the F65. This definitely backs up the solid construction. Included with that warranty is a 2-year parts, deck, and all other components warranty, as well as a 1-year labor warranty, and a 90-day cosmetic items warranty.
Should You Buy the Sole F65
The Sole F65 Treadmill is kind of the best of both worlds between the Sole F80 and Sole F63. It has a large 22” wide and 60” long deck to accommodate all running strides and a decent-sized 3.0 HP motor that should handle light to moderate running. We love all of its features, training capabilities, and simple design. Users looking for a treadmill that doesn’t require a subscription, or even wifi should check out the Sole F65. It is a folding treadmill that goes up to 12 mph and has a 15% incline. The onboard workouts are included and we assume the cushioning is firm underfoot. For a great treadmill at a reasonable price, the Sole F65 has a lot to offer.
