iFIT features thousands of workouts and auto-adjustability for hands-free training.
Summary NordicTrack AirGlide 7i Review: The Bottom Line
The NordicTrack AirGlide 7i is the lower-end model of the premium AirGlide 14i that we have in our studio. The 7i is decently priced with a lot of the same features as the 14i. It has a 7” touch screen for streaming iFIT and auto-adjustability of the resistance, incline, and decline in each iFIT workout.
Although we don’t have it in for testing, we’re able to provide insight based on our experience with the AirGlide 14i and our over a decade of experience using NordicTrack equipment. Overall, you should expect a quiet and comfortable home elliptical that provides a full-body, low-impact workout. The incline and decline feature might be a little noisy while adjusting, but they should add nice training variables to the stable design.
If you’re looking for a standard elliptical with subscription training content and you want to save a few hundred dollars from the 14i, then I would consider the 7i Elliptical.
Editor’s Note, 4/29/2024: We have created this NordicTrack AirGlide 7i spec review to share our thoughts on how this elliptical should perform. We have the AirGlide 14i, which is very similar.
What We Like
- The 7” touch screen offers streaming from iFIT with a subscription for access to thousands of trainer-led workouts and auto-adjustability of the resistance and incline/decline.
- The standard pedal stride should be good for most heights.
- The workout is full body and low impact, so it is convenient and comfortable for most people.
- The adjustable resistance, incline, and decline give nice training variables.
- The cushioned pedals are comfortable and the handles are slim and long for different grip options.
Areas for Improvement
- We anticipate the incline and decline features to be a little noisy while adjusting, but we assume the elliptical is pretty quiet to use overall.
- The 7” touch screen might be too small for some people to see and use well.
- There isn’t a place to put your phone or tablet to stream content from your device.

Testing All Kinds Of Ellipticals For Over A Decade
When it comes to equipment from NordicTrack, we’ve been testing treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes, and rowers for several years. We’ve also spent time on ellipticals from all kinds of brands. I grew up using my mom’s cheap home elliptical, so testing the current ones on the market makes me pleased to see how this machine has evolved. Of course, different brands have different features, prices, and overall quality. The NordicTrack AirGlide 14i is a premium standard elliptical with nice training features and iFIT programming. We expect the 7i to perform similarly. It does have some differences I’m going to get into in this review, but we are confident of our predictions of this machine so you can rely on us when making your purchase decision.
In-depth NordicTrack AirGlide 7i Elliptical Review: Testing & Analysis
Workout Experience
To give you an idea of what to expect from the NordicTrack AirGlide 7i Elliptical, here is a brief overview.
Before stepping onto the pedals, you’ll want to hold onto the inner, non-moving handlebars. The pedals move, even when the elliptical isn’t plugged in, so it’s a good idea to hold the stationary handles for balance when getting on and off.
The 7” touch screen is visible on the console. It’s a little small, but we’ve been able to see and navigate iFIT’s library of workouts on other NordicTrack machines, like treadmills, with 7” touch screens. All of your metrics are at the top and an instructor guides you through each class.
When you start using the elliptical, the pedal stroke is smooth, and so are the moving handles. The handles extend upright and are long so you can grip them where you find the most comfortable. I prefer the lower portion of the handles since I’m short. The pedals also have an adjustable angle so you can prevent foot numbness. I prefer the most flat of the 3 positions on the AirGlide 14i, so I assume I will like the same on the 7i. There are 3 different positions to choose from.
It is unclear how many levels of resistance the AirGlide 7i has. I’m guessing it has 24-26. It has a 15% incline and a -5% decline, just like the 14i. The incline and decline are most likely a little loud when it is adjusting, but the 7i should be quiet otherwise.

Dimensions/Storability
The NordicTrack AirGlide 7i has a fairly compact design for an elliptical. It’s a front-drive elliptical which helps to cut down on the overall dimensions. The dimensions are the same as the 14i, it’s 69” long x 25” wide x 71” tall. It has a pretty narrow design.
You’ll want to factor in those dimensions plus a few extra feet for getting on and off the elliptical. If you put it along a wall, you’ll need to make sure the pedals and handles have enough room to move.
You’ll also need to factor in your ceiling height to use the incline feature. The AirGlide 14i’s tallest pedal when inclined is 26” high off the floor. The 7i should be the same since it has a 15% incline. We recommend adding 30” to your height to determine the minimum ceiling height you’ll need to comfortably and safely use the 7i.
The NordicTrack AirGlide 7i has 2 front transport wheels and a rear-mounted handle. Keep in mind that when it’s delivered it weighs 235 lbs in the box, so it isn’t a light or small machine. It might not be realistic for some people to move on their own. To move it, you’ll lift the back end using the handle. This engages the wheels so you can wheel it around.
Onboard Workouts & Apps
Like most fitness equipment with attached touch screens, the NordicTrack AirGlide 7i offers subscription training content. It does require a monthly fee, however, you don’t have to subscribe to the content to use the elliptical.
If you want highly interactive and engaging content on an elliptical though, you’ll probably want to consider subscribing to iFIT.
iFIT
iFIT is a complete training platform available on NordicTrack equipment. It is subscription-based which means it requires a membership to use. iFIT is $39 per month, but if you buy a bulk membership ahead of time, you can cut down on the monthly price. For new members, the 7i comes with a 30-day free trial, too.
iFIT has thousands of on-demand workout videos led by knowledgeable and engaging fitness instructors. There are workouts filmed in professional studios that feature an instructor on an elliptical, leading the class. There are also outdoor workouts filmed all over the world. These workouts involve walking, jogging, running, hiking, and even snow-shoeing and ice-skating.
On the NordicTrack 7i Elliptical, there are many of iFIT’s workouts you can take. Our team prefers the outdoor-filmed workouts. They take place in locations all over the world, on every continent. The iFIT workouts make NordicTrack equipment engaging and interactive.
If you don’t want to follow along with an instructor, you can create your own routes. The Google Map feature, found at the bottom navigation bar on the home screen, uses Google Maps. Once you pick a location on the map, you can select where you want to start and end your workout and the feature will create a route. In the workout, Google Images in street view are shown of the location.
In every iFIT workout, the option to listen to music in the background is available. This feature has preselected playlists of songs split into different genres. You can switch between the different stations while working out to change the music you listen to. I would like it if the indoor workouts incorporated music into the classes, like other training platforms, but the music in this feature is updated regularly so it doesn’t feel overplayed or dated.
Onboard Workouts
As I mentioned above, you don’t have to subscribe to iFIT to use the NordicTrack AirGlide 7i. Without iFIT, there is limited availability of training options on the touch screen. Manual mode and a featured iFIT workout are available to take.
Streaming from 3rd-party apps like Netflix and YouTube aren’t available with or without a subscription to iFIT. If you want to stream outside content, your best bet is to place the 7i in front of a TV.
Console
The NordicTrack AirGlide 7i Elliptical has a 7” touch screen. This is the smallest touch screen that iFIT offers on their equipment. Even though it is small, the screen should still be within view and relatively easy to navigate in manual mode and in iFIT.
It might be hard for some people to see, but considering that the console is fairly close on the 14i, this screen should be fine for most people to see and reach. The console, as a whole, is most likely positioned a little low, especially for taller people, so keep this in mind. Most people will probably have to look down at the screen.
In addition to the screen, there are adjustment buttons to adjust the incline, decline, and resistance. There are adjustment buttons on the moving handles, too. I like using the touch screen to adjust the 14i. Considering this screen is smaller, it will probably be harder to use the adjustments on the touch screen in workouts to adjust the 7i.
Fortunately, when you subscribe to iFIT, the AutoAdjust feature is available. In each iFIT class, the AirGlide 7i will automatically adjust the resistance and grade of the elliptical. The incline and decline will adjust to match the terrain in the outdoor workouts. For instance, if you’re taking a hike up a mountain, the 7i will incline to match it. The resistance is adjusted based on your previous workout history. Depending on your effort levels in prior workouts, the AutoAdjust feature will adjust the resistance to what it thinks is appropriate for your fitness level.
The speakers are clear and have enough volume on the 14i, so we assume they should be the same on the 7i. I’m also hoping the fan is the same. The 14i’s fan has a good breeze and multiple settings to help keep you cool.
The only bit of storage is the large oversized cupholder below the console. It should hold your phone or water, not both. There isn’t a device rack on the AirGlide 7i, so keep this in mind. That is why I recommend placing this elliptical in front of your TV for outside content, otherwise, iFIT is definitely worth it if you want some guided training.

Build Quality
The NordicTrack AirGlide 7i has a very similar build to the 14i. This is a front-drive elliptical with nice features that should make it comfortable and easy to use. We also assume it is quiet.
This isn’t the most budget-friendly elliptical, but it is the low-end and most affordable option from NordicTrack. It is around $1400. The touch screen and subscription training content, along with the construction and thoughtful features that I’m about to get into, make the 7i a quality elliptical. If you’re looking for a standard elliptical from a reputable brand with nice training options, I would consider the 7i.
Frame
The AirGlide 7i has a steel frame that supports the base. It is narrow, but you shouldn’t experience any shaking from side to side while pedaling. There are 2 floor stabilizers the width of the elliptical. One is at the front and the other is at the rear. Underneath each are 2 feet that the elliptical sits on.
The NordicTrack 7i handles up to 300 lbs of weight. This is a standard weight limit from NordicTrack. The 7i should handle folks up to this limit.
Pedals
The pedals are padded and oversized. They appear to be the same as the 14i, with NordicTrack’s textured padding. I like this padding that’s on other NordicTrack ellipticals. It is comfortable without being squishy or bouncy underfoot.
Another feature that maximizes your comfort is the adjustable angle. There are 3 different angles you can position the pedals to. The handle at the back of each pedal adjusts the angle to keep the heel of the pedal in line with the toe, or to lift your heels higher than your toes. This feature is designed to help prevent foot numbness, which is common on standard ellipticals.
The stride length is 17.8” to 18.5” long. It moves primarily forward and backward in a standard elliptical pattern. NordicTrack states that this is an “Auto Adjustable Stride”. Instead of the stride adjusting manual like the NordicTrack FreeStride Trainers, the stride adjusts slightly longer and shorter when the elliptical is inclined and declined. The difference in length is so minor that you probably won’t notice it.
From using the NordicTrack AirGlide 14i, I like this stride length for most heights. I’m 5’1” and Matt is 6’5”, we are the shortest and tallest members of our team, here at TRG. This stride length is comfortable for both of us. The 7i should be comfortable for people of most heights.
Handles
The handles are also accommodating for most heights. The moving handles are long and vertical, so you can grip them where it’s most comfortable for you. I prefer the lower half of the handles on the 14i, and Matt prefers the upper. Even though I’m short, I can still reach the adjustment buttons on each handle though.
The inner handles are non-moving. They’re convenient for targeted lower-body training and getting on and off the elliptical. The pedals will move on the 7i, even when it isn’t on, so I recommend holding onto the inner stationary handles when you step on and off the pedals.
Flywheel
The 14i has a really heavy-duty flywheel that helps to contribute to the overall stability and durability of the elliptical. The 7i isn’t as heavy-duty but it’s still a good weight of 25 lbs. We prefer flywheels to be at least 20 lbs.
Considering NordicTrack makes high-quality equipment, we assume this flywheel provides a smooth and consistent pedal stroke, just like other NordicTrack ellipticals.
Incline
The NordicTrack 7i inclines up to 15% and declines to -5% to add more training variables to your workouts. The elliptical inclines and declines by raising and lowering the platform that the pedal arms are attached to. When inclined, the pedals lift you up higher, changing your position slightly to target your muscles differently, than when it is not inclined. The same happens when declined, although the pedals lower for this.
In our testing, we have found the AirGlide 14i incline and decline to be a little loud and slow to adjust the grade. It only makes noise while it is adjusting though. The 7i is most likely a little noisy while adjusting the incline and decline, too. Other than that, we expect the 7i to be quiet to use and appropriate for most homes.
Resistance
The AirGlide 7i uses adjustable magnetic resistance, just like most home ellipticals. Magnetic resistance is quiet and smooth. It is unclear how many levels of resistance there are. The 14i has 26 levels. I assume the 7i has 24-26 levels of resistance. Since it has a smaller flywheel, it might offer fewer resistance levels, however, we expect the tension to still be pretty vast on the 7i. Most people should have plenty of resistance to pedal and move the handles against.
Warranty
NordicTrack includes their standard warranty with the AirGlide 7i Elliptical. It comes with a 10-year frame, 2-year parts, and a 1-year labor warranty. Due to its size and weight, you’ll most likely need an extra hand or two to help set this elliptical up.
Should You Buy The NordicTrack AirGlide 7i Elliptical?
Based on our experience using the NordicTrack AirGlide 14i, we expect the 7i to perform similarly. The AirGlide 7i has a nice design that’s sizable while still being fairly compact, especially for a home elliptical. The front drive keeps the weight centered under you and the console. Between the stride length and 300 lb weight limit, the 7i should work well for people of most heights and sizes up to that limit.
The 7” touch screen is a little small, but still displays iFIT just fine. We haven’t had any problems using 7” screens on other NordicTrack equipment. With a subscription, you’ll have access to thousands of trainer-led workout videos and the Google Map feature to create your own routes. With iFIT, you aren’t limited to taking just elliptical workouts on the AirGlide 7i. The outdoor workouts are filmed all over the world and allow you to follow an instructor as they walk, hike, jog, run, and even snow-shoe across all kinds of locations and terrain. The AirGlide 7i will automatically adjust the incline, decline, and resistance with iFIT, too.
If you’re looking for an interactive elliptical with nice training features and a smooth and sleek design, I would consider the AirGlide 7i in your search. You’ll save a few hundred dollars from the premium AirGlide 14i, while still benefiting from much of the same features.
