The NordicTrack 1750 is a popular treadmill from NordicTrack. We think it is a great blend of features, quality, and price. It has the same 4.25 CHP motor as more premium models from NordicTrack, so it handles heavy training like distance running. Plus, it is quiet so as not to be disruptive.
Along with the motor being powerful and quiet, it is quick to adjust. In fact, the 1750 is now one of the fastest to adjust treadmills, making it ideal for interval training. We never have to wait for the motor to adjust from high and low speeds and inclines.
The deck cushioning also sets this quiet treadmill apart. It feels soft and shock-absorbing without feeling overly bouncy. If you have joint sensitivity while running or looking for a softer treadmill for recovery runs, this one is a great foldable option.

Not only is the drive motor quiet and capable of reaching 12 mph, but you can barely hear the incline motor moving the deck. So, you can reach a 15% incline without disrupting others around you. You might need to peek at the deck when it adjusts because it’s that quiet!
The 7.0 AT adjusts the speed and incline quickly, making it a good pick for HIIT training. We love the blue adjustment rollers that keep adjusting the treadmill right under your thumbs. The Horizon 7.0 AT will also fit well in most homes because it has a 20” wide by 60” long deck that folds. This length is great for most running strides yet compact enough to take up less space.

A hallmark of Sole treadmills is their construction, which helps to reduce the sound produced by the F80. As Sole treadmills are welded together, there are fewer parts that need connecting with bolts. With fewer bolted sections, the F80 is able to stay quieter and not vibrate noisy bits of metal.
Along with the solid frame, the F80 has a solid 3.5 HP motor under the hood. While some of the budget Sole models can acquire a whine when running at higher speeds, the F80’s powerful motor runs evenly without any annoying sounds breaking into the hum of the running motor.
Like the rest of these sound-dampening treadmill features, the F80 also has Cushion Flex Whisper Deck cushioning, bringing quietness and cushioning to your home. While it is not as soft as treadmills from NordicTrack or ProForm, the cushioning on the Sole F80 can reduce the impact your body takes up to 40%, according to Sole.

We’ve been testing the Peloton Tread at TRG for over two years. The Tread offers engaging studio classes on its impressive 23.8-inch touchscreen right in the comfort of your home. It also has a quiet motor and belt for keeping those workouts quiet.
The Tread doesn’t fold up, so it takes up some floor space. It also has a unique Z-shaped design, which has been influential on the treadmill industry, as many other brands have updated their treadmills with a similar-looking design. There’s also no motor hood on the Tread, so you can fully use the belt to lengthen your strides.
We also really appreciate that Peloton has incorporated third-party apps such as Netflix and YouTubeTV into the console. It allows users a little bit more freedom over content while they’re working out. Another nice feature is the option to connect Bluetooth headphones, keeping your workout very quiet.
Although the Tread seems like a great machine, it does come with a hefty price tag, right under $3,000, plus a $44/month membership on top of that. If you don’t pay for the subscription, you can still use the treadmill; you are just very limited in what you’re able to do. The screen also shakes quite a bit more than we’d like while running.
Overall, this is a solid treadmill, especially if you already have a Peloton bike or rower and pay for the subscription.

I like the Horizon 7.8 AT so much because it doesn’t corner me into a subscription-based training program, but if I want to train with a service like Peloton or Zwift, it’s easy to. The 7.8 AT is Bluetooth and pairs with any FTMS-compatible app. The fast speed and incline adjustments ensure you never miss a beat when doing any workout.
The 7.8 AT is sturdy. It can support up to 375 lbs and has a thick steel frame. Though it folds, it weighs 330 lbs, making it one of the more difficult treadmills to move around. Yet, you get a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor—it’s non-transferable but lasts the lifetime of the original owner.
I recommend the 7.8 AT Treadmill for anyone not swayed by aesthetics when searching for a quiet and powerful running treadmill.

Sole treadmills are consistently impressive, with low noise output and quality build. We like the Sole F63 and know it will be a great option for those with limited space. It’s also an excellent choice for people who still want something durable with a simple console that doesn’t require a subscription.
The Sole F63 has an impressively quiet belt and motor. There is a bit more foot noise on this machine, which raises the decibels just a bit, but you won’t hear clunky thudding or rough motor noise on this machine.
The console on the Sole F63 is simpler than on other models. There is no touchscreen, and the programs don’t have any music background, so you won’t generate any superficial noise from the program itself on the F63. The buttons make a quick beep when you tap them, but otherwise, there’s no noise on this machine unless you decide to play your music through the treadmill speakers.

There are few treadmills more compact than the Echelon Stride-6s. It’s a space-saving treadmill that you have to look into if you want something quiet with guided training classes.

I like that I can stream Netflix and other streaming apps on the Sole F89. There’s really no limit because you can screen mirror content from your phone or tablet if the app you want is not already available on the F89. There’s even a wireless charging pad for your phone to keep it powered. No other brand has such spectacular tech features at no extra cost.
But what landed this treadmill on this list is its build quality. It has a quiet 4.0 HP motor. The frame is sturdy and supports up to 375 lbs. Both the frame and motor are covered by a lifetime warranty, which is fantastic!
I recommend the F89 for anyone who wants a quiet treadmill that has all the perks of a high-tech training platform without the attached subscription.

DeerRun Z10 Treadmill
What We Like:

The Z10 is the first walking pad that I’ve used with an electric incline. Most do not have an incline, and if they do, they only have a manual incline. Thus, I was quite impressed by how stable and smooth the Z10’s incline is. There are 12 levels, but I measured the top incline at a 9% incline.
If you want more training options with the Z10, you can connect it to the PitPat app. This app can replace the Z10’s remote if you lose it, and if you subscribe, you can follow workouts, participate in races against PitPat members, and more. It’s a unique app, but if you don’t want a subscription, you’ll be just fine without it.

If you’re looking for the quietest treadmill for your home gym, consider a few things before making the purchase.
Motor
Consider whether you want a motorized or non-motorized treadmill. Each has its pros and cons. Some traditional treadmills have nearly silent motors that hardly make a sound, while others can be loud and whiny. Motorless treadmills are user-powered and typically noisier because of the rubber slats and how the belt moves.
Cushioning

We also highly suggest placing a rubber treadmill mat under your treadmill to help with noise and keep it in place. Without a mat on hard floors, a treadmill can make more noise, and without a mat on the carpet, fabric fibers can get into the motor. You can also use anti-vibration pads under your treadmill to cut down on noise output.
Is it ok to put a treadmill on the second floor?
Considering most treadmills weigh just a few hundred pounds, you should have no problem using one on the second floor of your home. However, the noise from your treadmill might affect those below you, so it’s important to consult with others who might be affected before placing your treadmill on the second floor.
