Best Amazon Walking Pads | Cheap Under-Desk Treadmills

Despite reviewing exercise equipment regularly, I also sit at a desk for hours daily, writing reviews and creating other content. As a runner, I have a few problems with sitting so much. I end up with inactive glutes, tight hip flexors, and back pain. How can I combat this? I use one of our office’s many cheap under-desk treadmills.

We have a few expensive under-desk treadmills on hand, but I usually pick a more affordable option. Why? Because they are lighter and easier to move around. While more features are nice, I don’t use them very often. If an under-desk treadmill tracks a few metrics and keeps a steady pace, that’s all I need.

Below, I cover which Amazon treadmills are best for less than $300. I’ll also discuss their limitations and strengths to help you decide if saving a few hundred dollars is appropriate for your training goals. Keep reading for more.

The selection below includes the best under-desk and 2-in-1 options on Amazon for under $300. You don’t have to choose a walking pad that would break the bank for a good workout.

  • The deck is very narrow and short
  • This model does not have Bluetooth.
For the longest time, Urevo was a brand we could only speculate as a good, affordable option. It had a lot of praise on social media and Amazon, but we like to remain skeptical until we test things for ourselves. When I stepped onto the Urevo for my first walk, I knew fairly quickly that it was a winner.

The smooth and quiet performance made it an instant success in the office. My worries about how narrow and short the belt was were diminished substantially. It still feels a little cramped at its top speed, but I loved it for the casual pace I hit while working at my desk. Plus, if I was walking faster (for fitness instead of multitasking), I would pay more attention, eliminating the problem.

The Urevo is remote-controlled with a speed range of 0.6 to 4 mph. The motor is 2.25 HP, which is a nice rating for a treadmill in this price range. It should support daily walks. The weight capacity is 265 lbs, so it is not up to the industry standard for treadmills but reasonable for a product in this price range.

I recommend the Urevo to anyone who wants a trustworthy walking pad at a reasonable price from Amazon.

Areas For Improvement:

  • Beeps don’t turn off.
  • Not enough room for top speed (3.8 mph)
The DeerRun is a solid walking pad that is great for under-desk use. We received the gray and white model, but there are other color options, like pink and green. Beyond these color options, there didn’t seem like much to rave about the DeerRun. It performs well and is fairly quiet. Then, we downloaded the app.

PitPat is a free treadmill app similar to Zwift in some ways. You follow your avatar around a track, competing in races and earning points. You can also play games. I customized my avatar with a new outfit, and I can’t wait to earn enough points to upgrade my outfit further. If you needed a gamified under-desk treadmill, this might be the one!

If you are not interested in downloading the app—don’t worry—it isn’t required. You can walk on the DeerRun and adjust the speed using the remote. I wish the remote had a button to turn the beeping sound on and off, but it doesn’t. Fortunately, it was quieter than most beeping treadmills. My coworkers were not bothered by its noise, thankfully.

  • Lower speed limit in walk mode
  • Beeping turns off

Areas For Improvement:

  • Narrow footrails
  • Narrow and short for running
The Urevo isn’t going to replace a true fitness treadmill, but it is certainly worth its price. Its maximum speed is 6.2 mph, and you don’t need any more speed than that on its 15″ x 40.1″ deck. The motor is 2.25 HP, and the frame supports a maximum user weight of 265 lbs.

When set to walking mode, the Urevo 2-in-1 performs identically to the under-desk model. It feels smooth and is very quiet. The only difference is that the console handle rests around the treadmill’s perimeter. When I increased the speed to 4.0 mph (the maximum while walking), I ran out of room and caught myself against the handle, so it’s not best for faster speeds.

I am a Zwift addict, so I immediately became a fan when I realized the Urevo was compatible with the virtual training app. Zwift allows you to schedule virtual meetups with friends or execute structured workouts while exploring the virtual world of Wattopia with your running avatar. The Urevo 2-in-1 pairs easily to the app via Bluetooth, syncing your speed.

Areas For Improvement:

  • Unfolding it can be loud.
  • Not as affordable as other options on this list
The WalkingPad C2 is the most expensive treadmill on this list (violating our $300 budget limit). Still, it could be worth the budget stretch for anyone who wants a trustworthy machine with a unique folding mechanism. If you are short on storage space, the C2 might be the answer to your predicament.

There are two training modes on the C2: automatic and manual. With the manual mode, you set the speed like a normal treadmill and walk. The automatic mode senses your positioning on the treadmill deck and adjusts your speed faster if you move forward and slower if you move backward. Both modes have a speed range of 0.5 to 3.72 mph.

WalkingPad is owned by King Smith, which lends its name to the KS Fit app. You can use this app or the C2 remote to control your walking pad. The app has more training capabilities, including workout guides and workout tracking. It is also free.

The WalkingPad C2 comes in three colors and has a deck that folds in half. It’s one of the sleekest and most compact walking pads available, so be sure to check it out if you have any wiggle room in your budget.

What We Like:

  • Super low price
  • Manual incline
  • Stores upright
  • Nice aesthetic
  • Compact size

Areas For Improvement:

  • Short walking surface
  • Big price changes
At the time of writing this review, the White Funray treadmill is under $100. At that price, it is a steal. It performed well during testing. It lived up to my expectations and outperformed treadmills that cost over $100 more. That said, I have seen evidence that the price fluctuates a lot, and other color options cost significantly more.

The Funray may not be authentic wood like the Maksone treadmill (also featured on this list), but it has a sporty look that we like. Even though it is so affordable, the treadmill doesn’t feel cheap. It feels like a much more expensive product. It has a decent weight capacity of 265 lbs and a nice motor rating of 2.25 HP.

We must discuss the incline mechanism. Also, unlike the Maksone, the Funray’s incline is adjustable. It is manual, so you can only change it when the treadmill is off—no incline intervals with this machine. You just flip the tabs up or down at the front of the treadmill to incline it to 6% or lay it flat. The incline is stable and great for fitness walks.

Redliro 2-in-1 Treadmill

What We Like:

  • Low price for features
  • Built-in training programs
  • Different speed settings for walk and run modes
  • Device rack
  • Remote control
  • Noise can be turned on and off

Areas For Improvement:

  • Not as sleek looking as other machines
  • 7.5 mph running speed may not be realistic for the belt size
  • 265-lb weight capacity
The Redliro 2-in-1 convinced me of its utility by carrying me through a 7-mile run without issues. I expected the treadmill to die—the motor to burn out, the belt to fray, or the deck to snap—but it didn’t. I shortened my stride and ran as fast as the Redliro would let me (7.5 mph). Admittedly, I felt most comfortable under 7.0 mph.

The Redliro 2-in-1 can work as a running treadmill, but it might be better for petite users. The short deck length, narrow belt width, and 265-lb weight capacity don’t bode well for long-legged runners. While our model of the Redliro 2-in-1 is still holding strong, it won’t take as much abuse as a full-sized treadmill would.

If you need a super cheap and small treadmill to run on (no matter what I say), the Redliro 2-in-1 might be your best bet. For most, I recommend runs of 3 miles or less at a maximum speed of 6.0 mph for the best results. As a walking treadmill, it performs very well.

The Redliro 2-in-1’s handle folds down and changes its maximum speed from 7.5 mph in running mode to 4 mph. This speed limit is more appropriate for under-desk use and prevents you from going too fast when you aren’t ready.

Areas For Improvement:

  • No lower speed limit in walking mode
  • The handle doesn’t help transport
  • Batteries not included
Sometimes, we receive products that feel nice right out of the box. Fortunately, I think the Sperax 2-in-1 is one of them. It looks nice with the red stripes down the footrails. The display is also simple and easy to read. I also really liked the texture of the belt and the adjustment knobs for the console uprights.

As for performance, the Sperax is nice. I like that you can set up a target program with a distance, time, or calorie goal. Not many walking pads have onboard programs, so even programs as simple as these are helpful. They can help you set a daily training goal, like walking for 30 minutes two to three times a day.

For all the praise we have for the Sperax, we had a few minor hiccups during setup. For one, the Sperax uses a remote control to adjust speed when it is in walking mode. Batteries were not included for the remote. The console uprights/handle does not tighten enough to be used during transportation. We also had to tighten the belt before our initial use.

Overall, the Sperax is a nice, cheap treadmill for walking and light jogging. We found the areas in need of improvement easy to overcome.

Areas For Improvement:

  • Short running deck
  • Uprights and handles may not support user weight
The GoPlus 2-in-1 Treadmill is another treadmill option for walkers who occasionally want to increase their pace or move away from the desk. The console folds up and down to convert the treadmill from one mode to the other. In walking mode, you are limited to a maximum speed of 2.5 mph, but running mode increases the speed to 7.5 mph.

The GoPlus converts from one mode to another more easily than other 2-in-1 machines. It has a lever that flips up and down to secure the uprights in place, and two handles rotate out to the sides. While I like the additional handles for visual guidance to keep you centered on the treadmill, I wouldn’t trust them to add support for tripping and falling.

The deck is only 16″ x 39.3″, so most people won’t be able to hit the top speed without running out of room. The motor is 2.25 HP, a little underpowered for intense running use. I recommend this treadmill for walkers who want to incorporate short jogging or running segments into their workouts. This treadmill is not appropriate for long runs.

The GoPlus 2-in-1 Treadmill’s compact design allows you to transition from one mode to the other quickly, taking you from work to workout in moments.

Areas For Improvement:

  • The incline is not adjustable
  • You cannot override the program speed settings.
The Maksone Walking Pad caught my eye with its wooden frame. Like the Ancheer treadmill on this list, standing out from the crowd is something we look for in a walking pad. There are so many similar products that I’m always looking for something that makes a treadmill stand out. For the Maksone, it’s the frame and incline.

Speaking of that incline, as much as it might be a strength, it is also a bit of a weakness. Unlike the Funray walking pad with a manual incline, the Maksone’s incline is permanent. This design makes it less suitable for long-term use while working at a desk—it’s just not as ergonomic. If you use the treadmill for fitness only, it is a great way to add a challenge to your walking routine.

I like the Maksone’s onboard programs. There are twelve interval programs and time, distance, and calorie target programs.

I’m very conflicted about the Maksone’s other features. Another strength is its bright display with beeping that can be easily switched off with the remote. The remote itself is interesting. It is white and has a nice texture with a rubbery wrist strap. My only concern is that it might get dirty over time.

The Maksone is a sturdy incline treadmill with a cute wooden frame and built-in training programs.

Areas For Improvement:

  • Narrow deck
  • Short warranty
I was ready to discount the Sunny Walkstation, but a few minutes walking on it changed my mind. Sure, the belt is pretty narrow, at only 14″ wide, but the motor is so smooth and quiet. The Walkstation was one of the quietest treadmills we tested for this list, and it took another treadmill’s spot as a result.

The Walkstation has a bright LED display on its motor hood. It is simple, showing calories, distance, speed, steps, and time. If you want more tech, you can choose the more expensive “smart” version of the Walkstation treadmill. If you are a casual walker just trying to get more steps in at your desk, I think the normal Walkstation is perfect.

Most under-desk treadmills we try do not come with safety keys unless they are 2-in-1 treadmills. The Walkstation is the only walking pad on this list with a tethered safety key. It’s a great safety feature to have if you are concerned about losing your balance, especially if you use the Walkstation without a standing desk.

Overall, I like the Walkstation’s simple design. Sunny has a lot of experience making affordable equipment, and our Walkstation is over two years old and still going strong.

What to Consider when Buying an Amazon Walking Pad

We were super excited to put this list together because we received each item for testing. It is hard to know which affordable products are best unless you have all of them physically in front of you to compare. Because we had this privilege, we found the diamonds in the rough and cut the models not up to our standards.

If this list hasn’t helped you decide on one walking pad yet, we have a few more guidelines to help you with your buying process.

Storage and Portability

Only the WalkingPad brand walking pads fold in half. Other walking pads typically do not fold. 2-in-1 designs have consoles that fold up and down around the decks. Consider a walking pad’s stored dimensions to determine if it can fit under your couch, bed, or other furniture. Also, check to see if the walking pad must be stored flat or if it can be stored upright.

For portability, inspect any images of the walking pad for an indication of its wheel size. Larger transport wheels typically make it easier to roll a walking pad around. If you must carry your walking pad upstairs, ensure the weight is not too much.

Check the Listing

We have linked each product to the correct page in each section of this list. However, if you search for a walking pad, you might find tons of listings for nearly identical items. Before you make a purchase on Amazon, check the seller’s name and the reviews on the listing’s page to ensure that you are purchasing the item you think you are.

Using our affiliate links supports our testing and review process and connects you with the right treadmill.

Be Realistic

A walking pad is not equivalent to a full-sized fitness treadmill. Be realistic about your goals and intended use. For example, any of the 2-in-1 treadmills might be a run-saver on a rare rainy day when you can’t get outside, but they aren’t ideal for fast daily miles.

These treadmills are a great entry point into daily fitness. They are best for shorter bouts of walking. While more expensive under-desk treadmills can handle four to eight hours of walking per day, these walking pads are best for half an hour to two hours of walking per day, depending on the model.

You Get What You Pay For

When purchasing an Amazon walking pad, keep in mind that these cheap machines may not be as durable or sturdy as more expensive alternatives. Walking pads in this price range typically have smaller walking surfaces, weaker motors, and few included features. You may have to upgrade in the future if your training goals change.

Apps, Remotes, and More

These treadmills come with various ways to control their speeds, from compatible apps, remotes, and automatic sensors. I like using an app because most under-desk treadmill consoles are not easily visible while working at a desk. An app allows me to control the treadmill settings and view my metrics more conveniently.

Beeps and Other Noise

If you are working in an office space, you probably care how loud the under-desk treadmill is—or at least, your coworkers do. Check whether the motor is quiet and if the beeping noises can be shut off. Most under-desk treadmills beep when turned on and when their settings are adjusted. Ensure you can turn it off if you don’t want to disturb others around you.

Walking Pad Maintenance

Like most treadmills, walking pads need to be maintained for the best performance. Caring for a walking pad includes keeping the walking surface (and under the surface) clean. If your walking pad sits on the carpet, fibers may be pulled under the motor hood. Dirt and other debris can also work their way inside the motor. Vacuuming out the motor hood can help.

Lubricating the belt is the most routine maintenance you must do for the treadmill. Different brands have different guidelines for how and how often you should lubricate the belt. Follow the manual instructions. When in doubt, use 100% silicone lubricant in a zigzag pattern under each side of the belt. Walk slowly on the treadmill until the lubricant is spread evenly.

Treadmill belts can loosen or shift over time, and your walking pad belt may need to be adjusted. Typically, a tool (Allen wrench/hex key) for adjusting the belt is included with the treadmill. Use this tool to loosen or tighten the bolts at the end of the treadmill deck. Follow the instructions in the manual, and remember to make small adjustments until the belt is centered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are walking pads good for you?

Walking pads are an affordable and convenient way to add physical activity to your day-to-day life. They are great for office workers who do not have the time for other types of physical activity. Walking Pads are perfect for exercisers with small spaces because they move around and store very easily.

How to pick the right walking pad?

To find the right walking pad, create a budget and a list of requirements and desires. You should include your desired maximum speed and storage needs. You should also consider the walking pad’s walking or running surface area and weight capacity.

When choosing a walking pad, don’t just pick the one that looks the cutest. Choose a walking pad that fits your training needs and is easy to use. Don’t create more barriers to exercise for yourself.

Are walking pads good for seniors?

We do not recommend walking pads for seniors because they lack vertical support and have small walking surfaces. We recommend using a standing desk for support to use a walking pad safely. Seniors should also consider walking pads with wide and longer decks to improve stability.

Should a walking pad have an incline?

Walking pads used under the desk while working do not need an incline. Walking on a flat surface while multitasking is more ergonomic. If you use a walking pad for fitness, consider one with an adjustable incline.

However, walking pads with permanent inclines may be suitable for shorter, more intense exercise bouts because they provide a similar training effect in a shorter time.
